New Leader for Manitoba Women's Ministries

After a number of years, we finally have a Women's Ministries leader in Manitoba.  Amy Wong is our new leader.  No stranger to Henderson Highway Church, Amy has been a member here for a number of years.  She was contacted by the conference office during the spring to consider becoming the new leader for Women's Ministries in Manitoba.  After much prayer and deliberation, Amy has accepted.

We look forward to the changes that Amy and her team will bring.  We also want to encourage Amy by covering her in prayer.  Leadership for women's ministries is a very challenging role.  Every women is unique and likewise, their needs are also all unique.

**Retreat Info**--Updated Room Pricing

Ladies,

The Henderson Highway Church has received some fantastic news regarding our women's retreat.  Hecla Oasis Resort has lowered their pricing for our accommodations.  All three room sizes are now one low price!  The breakdown is listed below:

Standard Room:
$298   $238 for two nights (taxes are extra).
Contains one king bed.

Superior Room:
$338   $238 for two nights (taxes are extra).
Contains two queen beds.

One Bedroom Suite:
$378   $238 for two nights (taxes are extra).
Contains one king bed and one futon in living area.

If you are sharing a room, then you would divide the above costs with your roommates.  If there are more than two people in a room, it would cost an $60 for the extra person/people for the weekend.  There is to be no more than 4 occupants per room.

Ladies, there is some fantastic news to share regarding our retreat.  The resort is currently offering a spring promotion, which results in room discounts!  We've had attendees save up to $180 on their room reservation!  Please call today to reserve your room.

Because of this great opportunity, we have extended the registration deadline to Monday, April 5, 2010.  We're hoping that the reduction in costs will allow more women to attend.

Event: "Spring to Life" Session

There will be a women's ministries event held Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 10:00 am.  This will be a teleconference event.  You can participate by telephone, out of the comfort of your own home.  There will be no group meeting at any venue for this event.

This Spring to Life session will be focused around passions.  There will be a slightly modified version of the Passions Test, to help us better understand how God wants us to use our passions to serve Him.

2010 Women's Retreat

Good afternoon, ladies!

The plans for our 2010 retreat are well underway.  It will be held April 30-May 2 at Hecla Oasis Resort, in Riverton, MB.  This retreat is open to all women ages 16 years and older.  This event is hosted by our local church, so while we won't have as many frills as we're used to, it will still be a great time.  There has not been a retreat event in a few years and I know that many of you are excited for this retreat.


Our main presenter is Joyce Odidison, the Women's Ministries leader in our church.  The theme for this retreat is Women in Renewal.  There will also be two afternoon workshops, presented by a women from Winnipeg.

This is great. Thanks for taking the initiative to get this blog site going. It will be great for the women to connect when arranging the women's retreat, to get room buddy's etc.

By the way ladies, the retreat is on and it is going to be at Hecla. So far we have gotten great room rates for a resort. The dates are confirmed for April 30th to May 2nd of 2010! Exciting. What we need to know is whether women would like to drive their own cars or would they like to pay and extra $40 for a bus round trip.
